How it all began
The Rajahz began with several 14-16 year old boys who played basketball on a casual level. Training was not on their mind, winning championships never came into the picture. These boys just played a few minutes of driveway basketball, VBS basketball, and some basketball in PE class. All of the PCNAK Rajahz reside in the small town of Chattanooga, TN.
One day Subin Joseph saw the potential in a group of kids who were often times rejected when wanting to play with the older Malalayee boys. Except Subin Joseph being one of the older kids gave them a chance by competing in his ISO Tournament. The ISO Tournament was actually intended for college students and older, so obviously the young Rajahz began their story with an uphill battle. The Rajahz finished with 1 win, 2 losses.
This tournament led to the creation of the Rajahz basketball team. It began with the Rajahz playing against college kids from as far as ATL (two hour drive) and then PCNAK Basketball decided to host an Under-19 Tournament and the Rajahz quickly signed up.
The Average Week
Basketball: The Rajahz play on a weekly basis in seperate groups. All of the Rajahz are in school, nearly all working, and are active in church so its difficult to consolidate schedules for the team. All members of the Rajahz make it an objective to play basketball on a weekly or even daily basis. The members of the team tend to be active in the weight room as well. The team is currently (Summer 2010) signed up with an asian basketball league that spans over several months with regular season & playoffs with referees as they push towards getting ready for PCNAK.
School: Nine of the Rajahz (Full Roster) attend the University of Tennessee Chattanooga (UTC) so playing basketball comes easy thanks to the University's Intramural basketball program & recreation center. The team maintains communication throughout the week sharing lunches, studying, and hanging out on campus daily.
Other: The Rajahz for several years now have maintained excellent off the court friendships. The Rajahz regularly hangout, watch movies, and eat out. The PCNAK Rajahz attend church regularly and are active in their church leadership, worship, and media departments.
